Marcello Giordani - Canio (January 12th, 24th, 26th)

An extraordinarily versatile artist, Marcello Giordani has a repertory which encompasses a wide and diverse range of roles, spanning from the Bel Canto operas of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini and the lyricism of French operatic repertoire, to the more dramatic roles of Verdi, Puccini and Berlioz and, most recently, the popular Verismo operas of Mascagni and Leoncavallo: Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci. Mr. Giordani has established his international career, performing regularly at Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan in New York, Covent Garden in London, Opernhaus in Zürich, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Liceu in Barcelona, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Massimo “V. Bellini” in Catania, Arena di Verona, Festival Pucciniano in Torre del Lago, working with the world’s leading conductors including Daniele Gatti, James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Antonio Pappano and Georg Solti. Future plans include: Tosca in Berlin, Vienna and Munich; Carmen in Dresden and Munich; Aida at the Metropolitan Opera in New York; Un Ballo in Maschera in Hamburg; Turandot in Bilbao. On the concert side Mr. Giordani will perform series of concerts in Toronto, Shangai and London (Wigmore Hall) and return to the Metropolitan Opera in New York engaged in important productions.

 

Davide Giusti

Davide Giusti - Peppe/ Rinuccio (January 12th, 18th, 21st, 24th, 26th)

Young and promising tenor, Davide Giusti specialized at the Academia Santa Cecilia in Rome. Davide Giusti is a recipient of important awards including A. Belli in Spoleto, R. Tebaldi in San Marino, M.Caniglia in Sulmona and the Santa Chiara in Naples, after that he made his debut as Ferrando in Così fan tutte at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome; Kent Nagano conducted him in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Reate Festival, then he gainined great success performing Rossini's Stabat Mater under Gianluigi Gelmetti, and more recently he starred as Alfredo in Traviata on tour in Italy. Mr. Giusti sang La Traviata for the As.Li.Co circuit in Italy, the Great Mass in C minor in Palermo, Gianni Schicchi in Cagliari and at the Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia in Rome, Il Viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival, and L'Elisir d'Amore in Chieti and Osnabruck. Davide Giusti recently starred L'Enfant Prodigue in Ancona and Cagliari, where he returned to perform Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, La Traviata in Lecce, Brindisi and in Piacenza, Cristina Mazzavillani Muti directing, on the symphonic side he was engaged in a recital in Montecarlo and in the Great Mass in C Minor in Genoa. Future plans include Petite Messe Solennelle in Saint- Etienne; Il Medico dei Pazzi in Nancy; Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège.

He has more than a twenty years career, and sung, conducted by renowned conductors and famous stage directors, in the most important opera houses in the world: Comunale di Bologna, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Carlo Felice Genova, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Rossini Opera Festival, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro alla Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Alte Oper Frankfurt , Stadts Oper Hamburg, Semper Oper Dresden, Covent Garden London, Buenos Aires Colon, Opernhaus Zürich, Sao Carlos Lisbon. His repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to contemporary music.

 

Serena Daolio

Serena Daolio - Nedda (January 18th, 21st)

Winner of numerous international lyric contests such as Viñas in Barcelona and the Renato Bruson Contest in Parma, Serena Daolio made her debut in 2001 as Violetta in La Traviata at the Teatro Bonci in Cesena. One year later, she performed in Iphigénie en Aulide at the Teatro alla Scala under Riccardo Muti, thus beginning an international career that brought her to important international stages. Among her recent successful appearances, it is worth mentioning: Carmen (Micaëla) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Turandot (Liù) in Tel Aviv, Zubin Mehta conducting; Cordelia in Cagnoni’s Re Lear at the Martina Franca Festival (CD released by Dynamic); Suor Angelica in Puccini’s Il Trittico in Messina; Magda in La Rondine in Palermo with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana; Madama Butterfly in Cesena under Paolo Olmi. More recently, Serena Daolio gained great success as Mimì in La Bohème at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, as Liù in Turandot in Florence, Zubin Metha conducting, and as Desdemona in Otello in Cagliari, where she also recently starred in Verdi’s Requiem. She has just made her debut as Leonora in Il Trovatore at the Teatro Sociale in Como and at the Kiel Opera and gained great success in Verdi’s Requiem at the Anima Mundi Festival in Pisa under Aldo Ceccato.
